BERLIOZ, Le Corsaire Overture
WAGNER, Siegfried Idyll
WASHBURN, Elegy
BRAHMS,Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73
Our season opens with three heralded works from the 19th century. From the stunning brilliance of the Corsaire Overture and the lush Siegfried Idyll, a gift to Wagner’s wife after the birth of their son, to the sunshine of what was termed by many as Brahms’ Pastoral Symphony, written in the picture post-card Austrian city of Pörtschach, this concert will stir your soul. We dedicate this concert to Robert Washburn, a great composer, musician and friend.
