CHRISTIAN HOSMER has been a recognized and eclectic member of the Northern New York music community since the late 1980s. In addition to serving on the music instruction faculty at St. Lawrence University for the past seventeen years, he also conducts the St. Lawrence University String Orchestra, the Trillium Music Center orchestras in Watertown, and has been Music Director of the Northern Lights Orchestra for nine years. He has been featured as guest conductor and soloist many times on the Bach Marathon series, held annually at Gunnison Chapel, St. Lawrence University.

An extremely versatile and accomplished musician, Mr. Hosmer can be seen performing locally on violin, viola, or cello. He plays viola regularly with the Orchestra of Northern New York, cello with the Trillium String Trio, and participates in many local high school and university musical productions, choral events, and solo performances. Mr. Hosmer has appeared as studio musician on several recordings and has composed and arranged many works for string orchestra and other ensembles. He is an active member of ASCAP and received an award from ASCAP for composition in 1986. Aside from teaching instrumental music, he also teaches music composition, arranging and music theory.

Mr. Hosmer currently serves on the music faculty at St. Lawrence University, and has been on the faculty at the Trillium Music Center in Watertown from 1993 until the present. He received his formal education and training at Manhattan School of Music and the Crane School of Music and attended the High School of Music and Art in NYC. He was briefly the orchestra director at Canton Central School from 2000-2001. He currently resides in Canton and is celebrating his third year of cancer survival, performing regularly with the Orchestra of Northern New York, the Trillium String Trio, and String Soulstice, a local band from Potsdam.
