Prizes:
1st Place: Appearances as soloist in the work performed at the competition with The Orchestra of Northern New York on the March 24th, 2011 concerts in Hosmer Hall, SUNY Potsdam, as well as the concert on the evening of March 24th in Beaver Falls; $500 prize money; and two (2) complimentary tickets to the concerts.
2nd Place: $300 prize money to be awarded at the March 24th concert and two (2) complimentary tickets to the concerts of March 24th.
3rd Place: $150 prize money to be awarded at the March 24th concert and two (2) complimentary tickets to the concerts of March 24th.
Rules and Regulations
1. Contestants must be residents of St. Lawrence, Lewis, Jefferson, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Warren or Hamilton Counties.
2. The Competition is open to instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12. This includes Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, Keyboard, Percussion, Piano, and Harp.
3. Contestants must be prepared to play a piece or movement from the Repertoire List FROM MEMORY. The length of the work is limited to 15 minutes or one movement. Please Click here for the list.
4. Contestants must provide their own accompanist and must audition in person. No tapes of accompaniments permitted.
5. Contestants must bring one copy of their audition piece (solo part and piano reduction or score) to the auditions.
6. At the discretion of the judges, contestants may be interrupted or subjected to time restrictions.
7. Parents, teachers, and friends are invited and encouraged to attend the Competition.
8. The decision of the judges is final and the judges reserve the right not to award any level of the prizes.
9. The first place winner must be available for performances with The Orchestra of Northern New York on March 24th, 2011. The audition piece will serve as the performance piece.
10. Second & Third Prize winners must be present at the March 24th concert to receive prize monies. First Prize winner MUST perform the winning composition on the March 24th concerts.
11. Entries must be postmarked no later than January 11th, 2012. No late entries will be accepted.
