Tin Pan Alley — Jazz & Pop in the Concert Hall

Clarinetist Christine Hoerning and pianist Keilor Kastella team up for a high-energy program of 20th and 21st-century classical music. Featuring works by D’Rivera, Gershwin, Harlos, Shirakawa, and Velez, the duo explores the vibrant collision of Classical music with Jazz, Rock, Pop, and the sounds of Tin Pan Alley.

Christine Hoerning (Montral clarinetist) is an accomplished performer, director, teacher, and creator across a multitude of genres. She is currently working as Clarinet Lecturer at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.  Christine has performed with the Orchestre Classique de Montreal, Kingston Symphony, Lake Placid Sinfonietta, and the Orchestra of Northern New York.  She is an active performer of new music. She is also the founder and artistic director of the visual chamber music ensemble, Verisimo. 

Christine is an artist with D’Addario Woodwinds, B. Corbin Clarinet Products, and Royal Global Clarinets. 

Keilor Kastella serves as the Accompanying Coordinator and Instructor of Piano at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. A prolific collaborator, he partners with faculty, students, and guest artists to present over 50 recitals annually, navigating a diverse range of repertoire that spans traditional masterworks to contemporary 21st-century compositions.

Beyond the university, Kastella has been the pianist for the Orchestra of Northern New York since 2025 and serves as the Music Director at the First Presbyterian Church of Potsdam. His summer engagements include frequent performances at national festivals and conferences; most recently, he was featured at the National Flute Association Convention gala concert in Portland, Oregon, alongside his husband, flutist Brian Dunbar. As a dedicated educator, he maintains a studio for students of all ages, hosting public performances each fall and spring.
